Some items you could use to layout your model railway include the following:

• Rocks: small rocks, stones, crystals, or granite to replicate mountains and other rocky terrain.
• Rubber gloves to replicate raincoats or umbrellas
• Powder: baby powder can be mixed with other dirt or sand to replicate snow
• Tissues: great for textures for stucco or screens
• Twigs: glue to leaves to create trees and other folliage
• Wax paper: excellent to coat or paint for a pond or lake
